TSU team successfully participated in the Jean-Picte International Competition

Tbilisi State University team successfully participated in the 49th Jean-Pictet competition on International Humanitarian Law 2026, and received the honorary status of a semi-finalist.
Dean of the Faculty of Law Associate Professor Dr. Moris Shalikashvili, vice dean Associate Professor Dr. Vasil Gonashvili, and director of the International Law Institute Professor Dr. Irine Kurdadze met with the Tbilisi State University team and congratulated them on their achievement. Students share information and their experience to the faculty administration and mentioned that they provided outstanding competence in an instance competition with other teams from leading universities of world, including teams from the United States, Switzerland, France, Australia, Singapore, India etc. Such an outcome can be reached by demonstrating strong academic background and practical expertise. 


International Competition which took place in 2026 from February 6 to 13, is one of the large-scale and authoritative platforms in International Humanitarian Law. During the competition, participants were discussing the most important and relevant legal issues of International Humanitarian, Refugee and Criminal law. 


Tbilisi State University team, which was trained by International Law Institute, was composed of bachelor and master international law program’s students of the faculty of law: Asa Shatirishvili, Tornike Kvirkvelia and Demetre Diasamidze. 


The mentor of a team was Tatia Bitsadze- graduate from International law program and owner of the best contestant prize of Jean-Pictet 2025 competition. 


The University team’s participation was ensured by the support of Law Faculty and ICRC delegation in Georgia. 


This victory once again emphasizes the high level of international law teaching at Tbilisi State University and the competitiveness of students in the global academic space
